  • Tron

Being a total child of the 70's/80's, I love me some Tron.  Well, Tron 2 is currently in the making.  And yep, Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner will be in the movie (Boxleitner was Tron.)  How awesome is that?  No official trailers now, but there is a bootleg out there of very shoddy quality.  You can barely see it.  Hopefully we'll see something out there soon.It should kick some ass with our current special effects.

  • 38 Years....

Ya say it's your birthday.  It's my birthday too, yeah.  Thanks Keri for putting that song in my head.

    I'm 38 today.  Yep, 2 years away from 40.  I'm ok with it.  40 doesn't scare me.

My husband bought me season 2 of Heroes, a Chuck Norris calendar and an I-pod Nano.  Wee!

I got the same birthday card from both my grandmas.  I wonder what that means cosmically.

Tomorrow night, we have friends over from J's work.  He's making his yummy pasta dish.

I'm a tired lady tonight.  I think it's early bedtime.

    Later all!

  • Had a good birthday bash on Friday with Zuk and his beau.  We had seriously good burritos.

Saw Benjamin Button last night.  Holy cow, talk about an amazing movie.  Difficult to watch toward the end, though.

Back to school in a little over a week.  That soon?  Geesh.

Hope all is well with the rest of you.

  • Prom Night

Tonight is the Christmas party for J's work (The Melting Pot.)  It's 80's bad prom theme.  I have me a truly hideous blue prom dress with puffy sleeves.  I'm going to do a little more detailing (lots of bows) and get my hair all kinds of "high hair whorish."  Yeah!  Not sure how pics will turn out, but I might post a few.

I need to also find some hideous black tights/stockings to wear with it.  You know, something like this:

We'll see what I can find.  Hmmm.  Anyway.  E is at my mom's for the night.  There is also a limo service, so my husband and I can have some drinks together for the first time in over 2 years.  I'm ready for some fun!

  • Game of Thrones

I got a book to read over the break, book 1 of the "Fire and Ice" series by George R.R.  Martin.  I wanted a good fantasy romp.  Little did I know that this book would kick so much ass that I cannot put it down.  How rockin is that?

So far, it seems to be low fantasy, low magic, high medieval flavor, lots of intrigue, suspenseful storylines, awesome characters.  Add it to your list:  Game of Thrones.  Can't wait to read the rest.

  • Paging Dr. House

Woo!  USA marathon Sunday.  My little brother finally started watching Season 1 (he's had the dvd's for 5 months now,) and text'd me last night saying, "I'm addicted!"

I love me some Foreman!  Mmmm hmm.

  • Hope you all had a great Christmas / Holiday, whatever it was you celebrated (or didn't celebrate.)  E cleaned up.  None of the adults exchanged this year in our family.  J and I bought some things for one another, but that was it.  I have to say, it was pretty stress-free.

Last night I slept through the night.  I woke up once.  This is very unusual for me.  I usually wake up 6-7 times and have difficulty going back to sleep.  Last night.  It was like someone knocked me upside the head with a brick.  I was O-U-T.  God, it felt good.  E and I slept until 8:30 this morning.  She must have been exhausted too.

Playing WoW for fun for a few weeks (before school starts.)  I'm over on Thrall with Zuk.  I figure since he's always doing stuff for me (watching terrible shows that I suggest and playing games with me,) I'm gonna pop over and play in his realm for a while.  Most people in my life don't do shit when I suggest it.  I gave my step-dad a book last year for Christmas and he still hasn't read it.  (The book: Mystic River--he loves mysteries.)  I give my brothers shows to watch, movies, and they go untouched.

Does anyone ever really read or watch anything that their friends/family suggests?  Usually not in my world (with the exception of a few: Zuk, FadingSun, Fleener on occasion [unless it's a Blade movie] etc.)  Didn't mean to derail the post.  I was just wondering if people ever took someone's advice on their entertainment choices?  Or, if they just ignored it.  I'm about 50/50.  If certain people say, "GO WATCH THIS NOW," and they are the select few whose tastes run hand in hand with mine, I'll usually go watch it.  If it's someone who thought Gigli was oscar-worthy, yeah, probably not gonna do it.

Speaking of Blade movies, the director of the first Blade is apparently going to remake The Crow.  Seriously.  WTF?  I'm sorry, Blade was badass, but who would mess with The Crow?

  • Yay!

Hot damn.  I was expecting at least one B, maybe two, but heck if I didn't pull out a string of Aces this semester.

    E 501      Theories of Writing      3.00      A
    E 630B     Special Topics-Genre Studies     3.00     A

Frack me.  I'm feeling pretty good about my scholarship potential for next year.  Wee!

  • I'm done with the semester.  One down, three more to go (then my last year I spend student-teaching and working on my final portfolio.)

Next semester,  more literature classes (English.)  From what I can see of the list so far, Jane Eyre and Great Expectations.

Also applied for an internship to teach creative writing at the women's correctional facility here in Ft. Collins.

    Glad I'm done for now.

    I have strep throat.

    I'm tired as hell.

Nothing came up in the stomach pill.  Next step is exploratory surgery.  :(   At least it can be done with a simple incision and a tube.  They won't gut me.  Not sure when this will take place.  They've ruled out everything on the inside of my plumbing (Crohn's Disease, other autoimmune baddies, tumors, etc.)  It has to be on the outside.  Nothing hurts now, but the chance of another episode is very likely (have had three so far.)  I can hope there won't be, but the realist in me says don't hope.

    I'm happy otherwise.

    And tired.

Very very very very very very tired.

Reading a new book.  I picked it.  It's just for ME.

    Later!
