  • Bedtime Freakiness

Most babies fight the bed, right?  Take them to sleep and they want to play.  Fight to get them to take a nap.

Today, it was around 12:30 (she takes her nap at 1-1:30.)  She grabbed her blanket and went upstairs to her room.  I followed her and she went to the crib and then looked at me and kind of gave this grunt.

I told her, "no no, not time for nap yet," and she freaked out.  I mean, she freaked out.  She started crying and wailing.  She tried to climb UP the side of the crib and GET IN.  She was so pissed off that she couldn't get in her crib.  I was thinking, "what the heck?"

So, I put her in and she pulled her blanket up over and went to sleep.

Tonight?  I have her all ready for bed.  And my usual routine is that I pick up toys on my way to taking her to her room.  I clean up as I go.  She got upset over that as well.  She actually took one of the toys I was trying to put away and threw it, then went up the stairs with her blanket, ran into her room and pointed to her crib.  It was like she was telling me, "woman, get me in there.  I'm tired."

Who seriously has a kid that gets mad at you for NOT putting them to bed?  Apparently, I do.

I don't know whether to be happy as a clam or to be concerned that my child is already this willful and headstrong.

  • Poop on Heroes

I have lost interest in Heroes.  I'm going to try to watch a few catch-up episodes tonight, but I'm not sure I can hang on for much longer.

Whoever is writing this crap needs to be kicked in the junk.

  • Oof

I love my little girl, but somedays, I really don't feel like being a human trampoline, a human jungle gym or a gymnastics vault.  I'm not a spring chicken here.  I'm 38 for the love of all that is holy.  I swear, I'm getting arthritis.  I just don't have the mojo anymore it seems.

And today?  I'm sore.  I refuse to lay on the couch or sit in the recliner until E goes to sleep.  I just need a break.  A break, I say!

  • Nerd Alert

Katee Sackoff (Starbuck from new Galactica) is going to be at Denver Starcon in April.

So is Patricia Tallman from B5.  Woo!

I'm freakin!  They're still adding names, so who knows what other awesome folks are going to show up.

I'll have a pair of tickets, plzkthx.

  • Thinking Ink

J and I have been pondering getting a matching tattoo.  Not into names,  no.  But more something like this (image from Galactica, the new series.)

Kara and Sam.  No idea on the design/image yet, but I'd like for it to be something where it can come together and form a bigger picture in this same manner.

  • WTF?

So, I was just summoned to Jury Duty for Larimer County (where I also facilitate workshops for the ladies at the Larimer County detention center.)  Go figure.  I'm also a full-time student. Wonder if I'll be disqualified for either one of those.

  • Bleh

Anyone know how to turn off "recommendations" that others can give you?  I have 2 full pages of the same person giving me recommendations that I will never read.  I just don't have time.  No offense.  It's just web-clutter for someone like me.

  • More Galactica Nerdiness

Ok, I've done some research online: message boards, interviews with writers/creator, etc.  Rewatched a few shows.  Here's my final five/cylon/centurion/human/skinjob timeline.

    SPOILERS BELOW....

    The Great Galactica Timeline

Mankind lives on Kobol. It's a happy time, a good time.

Mankind creates Cylons. Skinjobs are created. They are created by humans.

Q: Were Centurions also created here, or was it the skinjobs that rebelled?

Big war. Things blow up. Skinjobs leave to find a "homeworld of their own." Earth is this homeworld.

Humans leave and settle the 12 colonies.

Skinjobs on Earth populate the planet. They can procreate.

    Skinjobs create Centurions.

Final Five also receive warnings: Tori sees a man / Anders a woman (warning them about the destruction to come.)

Final Five rediscover resurrection technology. (I put this after the warnings because it makes sense to me that they would start to panic and go searching for means of immortality.) They are urgent about this (due to warnings?)

Centurions rebel against skinjobs on Earth. Huge war. Cylon against cylon (skinjob against centurion)

"Final Five" (skinjobs) resurrect in a ship orbiting Earth thanks to their re-inventing resurrection. They head out to find the humans who have settled the 12 colonies in hopes of telling them, "be kind to your AI."

Queston: Did the Final Five return to Kobol to leave clues? The Temple of Athena? Or was it just the algae planet?

12 Colony starts to tinker with AI again. The cylons are created (centurions) to make life easier on the 12 colonies.

Centurions rebel against humans. Big war.

Centurions leave to find a homeworld of their own.

The Final Five catch up with the cylons. (The question here is, did they come during the war and convince the centurions to cease their hostilities? Or after?)

The Final Five give the centurions the technology to create skinjobs and also gives them resurrection technology. Centurions promote the "One True God" and program it within the skinjobs in hopes that it will soothe the savage beast within.

Cavil rebels. Corrupts model 7's amniotic fluid. Boxes the Five, then resurrects them sans memories and places them amongst the humans. Whether or not this is from birth (and they were babies) or as full grown models is uncertain.

Cavil convinces the other models to attack the humans. To get revenge.

Second cylon war. The 12 colonies are decimated.

    Mankind flees. Cylons pursue.

And we are where we are.

  • Life

    Things are well.

School is good.  I'm doing a presentation next week on POV (First Person Narrative.)

The creative writing workshop at the women's detention center is also going well.  We had a lady write a poem about a front butt the other day.  Very interesting!

E is well.  Growing fast.  She says so many words now.

Just watched "Burn After Reading" last night.  Laughed my butt off.

Otherwise, life is good.  Nothing to complain about.

  • Galactica Thoughts

Umm, not sure what to post right now.  That was a lot to digest/absorb.  Spoiler thoughts below.  Font is same color as background.  Highlight to read.  It's just too much to leave out there for anyone to read who isn't up to date:

     Here's what I think I'm getting:

Ok, sorry to overwhelm peeps with too much, but here is what I've summarized (holes included.)

Mankind began on Kobol. All 13 tribes. They created Cylon centurions. The first skinjobs came along with that: Tigh, Ellen, Tyrol, Anders, Tori.

    War, rebellion.

The 12 left to find their own planets and settled the 12 colonies.

The rest went to settle Earth.

Earth creates cylons again, or brings the technology with them. The five are warned (Anders states that they each saw someone that was trying to warn them: "Back on Earth, the warning signs that we got. It looked different to each one of us. I saw a woman. Tory, you saw a man.")

Earth destroys itself. The Five are resurrected in a ship that's orbiting Earth and head back to tell the 12 colonies not to frack with AI.

Sam: "We needed to find the other tribes and warn them. We knew they would continue to create artificial life. We need to tell them, treat them well and keep em close. But by the time we got to the colonies, they were already at war with the centurions. It happened again. We hadn't developed jump drives. We traveled at relativistic, but subluminal speed. Time slowed down for us, but thousands of years had passed."

They get there too late. The Centurions had been recreated and war had happened. The Centurions tried to create more organic bodies (skinjobs) and were failing. They had produced a few hybrids and little else. The Five convinced them to stop the war (Ellen brought up the One True God to "tame them" so to say,) and they left to find a "homeworld" of their own. I think this is "The Colony" that Cavill speaks of where Ellen has her resurrection equipment.

While the cylons were gone (during those 40 years,) the Five taught them how to make skinjobs. Cavil was the first. He was created in the image of Ellen's "father." Perhaps that means the human scientist who helped create her, or another kind of father. This is uncertain.

Cavil convinced the others to rebel against the Five--had them boxed, then resurrected into the human population, without their memories.

Cavil must have done something to remove the memory of the five from the memories of the other models. Six tells Baltar at one point that they were not allowed to speak of the five, or think of them. That a rebellion occurred. They once had to know what the five looked like and who they were, but lost that ability.

Cavil brought the cylons back 40 years later and decimated the 12 colonies. I imagine it's because he was pissed off at humans because he disliked being one himself.

D'anna started to uncover the truth of who the other five were, much like children uncovering a secret they are not supposed to know. Some of the other models (Six, Eight, Leoben's model) became very interested in this as well. Thus, D'Anna was a threat to Cavil and she had to be boxed.

    And here we are.

    Thoughts

Now, I think Starbuck is either Daniel resurrected into woman form, OR, as you said, she is the daughter of Daniel and a human (Starbuck's mother.) I'm convinced that she is one or the other.

Cavil knew about the final five all along. He kept that information from the others somehow. Not sure how. That would need to be explained. It's why he had D'Anna boxed. She found out and she was a threat to his plans. She was also making the other cylons interested in the final five. Remember, they were not "allowed" to talk about the final five or to think about them. Six told Baltar this. Perhaps he had programming changed or such.

As to Starbuck's resurrection. If they can resurrect a raider, they can resurrect a viper. Starbuck was caught up in one of the resurrection machines at some point. Where it is, it's difficult to say. Perhaps Kobol. Not sure. It's a hole that needs to be filled in, that's for sure.

I think that while on Earth, cylons could procreate and they mixed with humans so much that most became hybrids of some kind. Perhaps humans really are a form of cylon in some way or another. Hard to say.

    SPOILERS END -
